Can you smell that hint of pumpkin spice in the air? Can you feel the sense that something good is about to begin?
I LOVE this time of year… well… almost this time, we still have a few more really hot days forecasted here.
But SOON, very soon, the air will turn crisp, and that magical feeling of Fall will return, as it does every year.
It was also FINALLY the first day of school! Hooray!
I decided to look back at some pictures of Fall days gone by, and it instantly lifted my hot-and-sweaty summer mood.
I have seen some people in my area who have already put out their pumpkins! I am TOTALLY slacking this year, I better start pulling out my Autumn decor buckets and get to work! It is just too darn hot. It has to feel like Fall to want to decorate, ya know? A nice North wind better come in soon and bring in the Autumn weather… so the pumpkins can be set free.
We have been starting to cozy in and watch some movies like The Hobbit. It was better watching it this time. It can be long and painful to get through, but we did it. Harry Potter will be soon, and then it will be The Lord of the Rings season. The BEST movies EVER! We have been watching the new Rings of Power… I like most of it, but some of it is so very dark. They did not have to go that far with the darkness. Ick. But I guess it gets the good vs. really evil point across.
I do love to gather with my family and watch epic movies together!
Sometimes… I really, really, miss watching movies with Charles. He was so interested in the details and was so fun to talk to and have movie “experiences” with. Don’t get me started about missing the movie-time cuddles. We would go to opening nights for things like, The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. He was just such a cool, fun, charismatic person, I am grateful for the time we had together and I cannot wait to talk to him again.
However, sometimes I feel like it will not be very fair that he will be so much more practiced at being in Heaven, and he will be more “good” than I am, when we meet again. I have been left behind on this mortal earth that seems to be falling apart at the seams… so I might be kind of rough and rugged, and a hardcore human, compared to him and all his Heavenly glory! I hope he will have grace for my haggard humanity. 😉
I miss our magic that we had together. I am grateful we had the magic.
This time of year… there are so many good things to be grateful for and to cause a smile.
The other day a neighbor walked by and they said, “It is almost time for your pumpkins!” I think he meant the many pumpkin buckets that I hang lit up in my tree. But it made me smile that when he saw me, he thought of pumpkins.
I hope that will always be true… that whenever you see a pumpkin… you will think of me, and smile a big Jack-O-Lantern-sized grin. And maybe pick up the pumpkin, hug it, name it, and bring it home. 😉
Let the magic of this season BEGIN!
Here are many magical Autumn seasons gone by…
